Hi! I’m Erin McMahon.
I’ve lived in Chicago since 2008, and I’ve been a Chicago Public School teacher since 2012. I’ve learned a lot over the years from my students about the fun offerings for families around Chicago, and now I have two little ones I get to explore with.
My husband Ben is an Evanston native, and our weekends are spent exploring playgrounds, splash pads, ice cream shops, and pretty much anything we can think of that would be fun for kids, Isla (4) and Finn (1).
I created Chicago With Kids to share what I learn about family fun in the Chicago area. I’m a real Chicago mom, and I want to give practical advice to families about playgrounds, museums, restaurants, and events in the Chicago area.
Whether you’re just in town for the weekend, or you’re a lifelong local, I hope this website can be a useful resource for events, sightseeing, tips and tricks in Chicagoland.
