Last Stop on Market Street

The talented people from Young People’s Theatre of Chicago in Lincoln Park are performing a musical adaptation of the popular children’s book, Last Stop on Market Street by Matt de la Peรฑa and Christian Robinson.

The story follows seven-year-old CJ exploring Nana’s unfamiliar neighborhood and finding empathy, joy, and friendship in unexpected places. 

Adapted from Matt de la Peรฑa and Christian Robinsonโ€™s celebrated picture book, the Newberry Award-winning Last Stop on Market Street features music and lyrics by Paris Ray Dozier and his father, Lamont Dozier, writer of Motown hits like Marvin Gayeโ€™s โ€œHow Sweet It Is (To Be Loved By You)โ€ and The Supremesโ€™ โ€œStop! In the Name of Love.โ€

This summer, join Corduroy on an uplifting journey! When his button goes missing, he must find it to go home with Lisa. Follow Corduroy through the department store as he searches everywhere, from escalators to towering store displays, in a fun and adventurous quest.

This 60-minute tale of friendship and belonging had its world premiere at the Tony Award-winning Childrenโ€™s Theatre Company in Minneapolis in 2018.
